TUCSON, Ariz. -- A Tucson man is dead, after a shooting on the city's south side.

It happened at around midnight at an apartment complex near 44th Street and 16th Avenue.

When officers arrived they found 22-year-old Sergio Valdez had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, police don't have a motive and are still investigating.

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Undercover police officers have shot and wounded two people at a party in Phoenix.

Police say the two officers were assigned to a unit that investigates underage drinking.

They were monitoring a party early Sunday morning when a fight broke out.  The officers were not hurt, but two people went to the hospital with serious injuries.


PHOENIX, Ariz. -- About a dozen soldiers from the Arizona National Guard were deployed out of Phoenix Sunday.

Members of the 257th Engineering Team will train in Indiana before heading to Africa.

Their mission is to conduct well drilling operations in support of U.S. humanitarian missions and the war on terrorism in Africa.

The soldiers will be gone for a year.

This is the unit's second deployment in the last six years.
