Loughner return on hold; Giffords and husband head to White House

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Accused January 8 shooter Jared Loughner's return to a Missouri prison hospital is on hold.

An appeals court ruled Loughner will stay in Tucson while his lawyers appeal the decision to treat Loughner for four more months.

Loughner's lawyers claim the treatment isn't working and never will, so doctors should stop trying.

No word on the effect this current ruling will have on Loughner's forced medication.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, and her husband, Astronaut Mark Kelly, are heading to the White House tomorrow.

The couple will be attending Captain Kelly's retirement ceremony from the U.S. Navy.

Vice President Joe Biden will preside over the ceremony, giving Kelly his retirement oath.

Giffords is not expected to conduct any congressional business during her personal trip.

She remains focused on her recovery and rigorous rehabilitation regimen and will return to Houston shortly after Thursday's ceremony.
