Tara Hitchcock bids 3TV viewers a fond farewell

PHOENIX -- A little more than a week ago, longtime "Good Morning! Arizona" host Tara Hitchcock decided she was ready for a change and left 3TV to take on new challenges.

Scott Pasmore, who worked side-by-side with Hitchcock for her entire 15-year tenure at KTVK, sat down with her Wednesday so she could say good-bye to viewers.

While Hitchcock's departure seemed to come out of the blue and caught most viewers by surprise, she wanted people to know that it was planned.

"I knew this a year ago," Hitchcock said. "This, to me, wasn't fast. It was just a matter what day it was going to be. Although it might look abrupt and sudden, just know it wasn't abrupt and sudden. ... This was kind of in the works for awhile."

Hitchcock will always be part of Arizona's Family. No matter what the future holds, "Good Morning! Arizona" and, more importantly, GMAZ viewers will always have a special place in her heart.

"What made this show and what continues to make this show are the people who watch this show -- no ifs, ands or buts about it" she said. "I've always thought any of us are expendable, but the viewers, we rely [on them] from the moment we get up in the morning until we leave."

She also had something of a surprise for Pasmore. The image above is a clue. It got a little messy. Let's just say payback is a cream pie. (Remember the lemon meringue pie incident during the 2008 GMAZ Road Trip?)

While she's still working out what's coming next, Hitchcock says she will be staying here in town. You can keep up with her on Twitter -- @TaraTV1 -- and Facebook -- Facebook.com/TaraTV.
