Arizona's congressional redistricting proposalPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- The bi-partisan redistricting commission appears to have given congressional Democrats a bit of a break.
A draft map released by the independent commission last night shores up Gabrielle Giffords' GOP-leaning district, and creates a new 9th district that Democrats will be slightly favored to win.
Things are largely unchanged for Ed Pastor and Raul Grijalva in the state's two majority-Hispanic seats, except that they're renumbered.
The draft map is not final, but has been approved by three of five members of the commission, so republicans aren't expecting any major changes in their favor.
