Tucson woman makes big impression on The X FactorPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- A young woman from Tucson hopes the second time's a charm in the world of reality TV.
Former American Idol contestant Tora Woloshin wowed Simon Cowell and the rest of the judges on the X Factor and this week she tackles 'boot camp.'
It was a long road trip to the Seattle audition for Tucsonan Tora Woloshin.
But a trip well worth it.
"I started singing when I was really young. In groups, performing all over the place. At fairs and nursing homes and malls and all that.," said Tora.
The 22-year-old is a student at Pima Community College studying automotive technology.
"I want to own my own shop. Building race cars and stuff like that," said Tora. "Even racing them. That would be fun too."
That would obviously take a back seat if her music career really takes off. And impressing the judges on the X Factor could be all it takes.
This isn't her first time performing in front of Simon Cowell. Woloshin was a contestant on American Idol as a 16 year old in 2005. She even made it to the Hollywood rounds before being disqualified.
Not many people get a second chance on such a big stage, and Tora isn't taking it for granted.
"I absolutely love you Tora," said Simon Cowell during her recent X Factor performance. "And I think you could be special. I really do. I've got a really really good feeling about you."
The winner of the X Factor gets a five million dollar recording contract.
But the praise of Simon Cowell on national TV could be worth millions as well.
"I've been a starving artist pretty much all my life. So having this sudden change in my career and being on the show that's given me publicity," said Woloshin. "It's great to finally know I'm here. I've made it."
The X Factor airs Wednesday and Thursday at 7 pm on Fox 11.
