DEA busts drug-trafficking operationPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – The Drug Enforcement Administration seized cocaine, cars and cash in what's being called "Operation Triple Threat."
At least 17 people have been arrested so far.
Agents think they were part of a group using the Valley as a stash location to funnel drugs into the United States and cash to Mexico.
It's believed the ring was part of the Sinaloa cartel.
Agents said "Operation Triple Threat" was the result of an eight-month investigation.
"Any case that we do in Arizona, with Arizona being a major trans-shipment point, has a significant impact not only in Arizona, but throughout the U.S. then back to the source countries," said Doug Coleman, DEA Acting Special Agent in Charge.
If convicted, some of the people arrested could spend the rest of their lives in prison.
