Good Morning Arizona interviews ShowUp.com Executive Director Matt Lehrman about Theatre, Music, Dance, Art, Festivals & Cultural Attractions. This week features:

1)    Cavalleria Rusticanna & Pagliacci: presented by Arizona Opera, October 7-9 at Phoenix Symphony Hall. This sizzling double bill starts Arizona Opera’s 41st season: Set in 19th century Sicily, four lovers double-cross each other more often than a gang of thieves. Also in Tucson tonight (October 1) and tomorrow (October 2).

2)    Youth Academy and Adult Programs: Scottsdale Artists’ School has programs for people of all ages and all skill levels.

-The Youth Academy includes: Inspiring Artists Saturdays (ages 6-14) every Saturday and Underground Art Club for Teens, every Thursday, through May 5.

-Adult Programs include: weekly classes and workshops, taught by professional artists who are also experienced instructors.

-There are “Absolute Beginner” courses available in drawing, painting, and sculpture.

3)    12 Dancing Princesses: presented by East Valley Children’s Theatre at the Nestbitt/Elliott Playhouse in Mesa, through October 9. This is a funny and endearing show about what it means to be part of a family. How do 12 princesses wear out their shoes night after night? They never leave their room! Is it all a dream or is there magic in the air? Great for kids. Thursday-Sunday shows, and matinee shows for large groups of school-aged kids on Tuesday, October 4.

4)    The National Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China: presented by Mesa Arts Center Theaters on Wednesday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. Direct from Beijing, this ensemble is a mystifying combination of martial arts, acrobatics and illusion.
