Inmate who drove away from work crew captured

PHOENIX – A female inmate who walked away from an Arizona Department of Corrections work crew last week was taken into custody Thursday.

The Salt River Pima Tribal Police arrested Dyan Castorena, 40, just after 3 p.m. at Casino Arizona.

Castorena took a car Sept. 30 from the Manheim Auto Auction in Tolleson where she worked detailing cars.

Castorena is housed in the Piestewa Unit of Arizona State Prison Complex - Perryville.

Local law enforcement joined ADC’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the U.S. Marshal Service in the search for Castorena.

Castorena was sentenced to 1.5 years out of Maricopa County for theft and has been in prison since July 13.
