GILBERT, Ariz. – Eleven students were involved in a four-vehicle crash near an East Valley high school on Wednesday.

The vehicles collided around noon in front of Higley High School at Recker and Pecos roads in Gilbert. The school was on a half-day schedule and the students were leaving the campus.

According to Gilbert fire officials, a pickup truck rear-ended another truck and hit two other vehicles. Aerial video showed the back of a pickup truck on top of another.

The initial investigation showed inattention and speed were factors in the collision, however investigators are still questioning the drivers.

Only minor injuries were reported, according to the Gilbert Fire Department. Two of the students were taken to a local hospital. The others were treated at the scene and released to their parents.
