2011 Monsoon was more of a NonsoonPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- This time of year, we usually see a lot of dust, wind and rain but it's turned out to be an uneventful monsoon.
The non-soon likely ended on Tuesday night and the season is technically over on Friday.
The dust blew through Interstate 10 near Picacho Peak north of Tucson likely causing a seven-car pile up that injured 13 people.
The dust storm then traveled up towards Maricopa, where it caught drivers off guard. "We couldn't see nothing, I had to tell my husband to slow down because we couldn't see, we couldn't see the car in front of us," said Priscilla Acero.
Queen Creek saw wind gusts of 33 miles-per-hour but the rain in this monsoon has been lacking.
Phoenix usually gets 2.71 inches of rain during the three-month season. The city has only seen 1.60 inches so this year.
