Man arrested in deadly shooting, 3 armed robberiesPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – A Phoenix man is in custody in connection with a deadly shooting stemming from a domestic violence situation.
According to investigators, Ryan Foote allegedly shot and killed Andrew Speroni as he lay in bed early Monday morning.
Detectives said witnesses told them Foote, 22, was angry because his ex-girlfriend had broken off their relationship and expressed an interest in one of his friends. Police believe Foote thought Speroni was romantically involved with her.
According to court paperwork, Foote originally told investigators that Speroni had shot at him and he fired in self defense.
Information from eye witnesses and evidence at the scene contradicted Foote’s story.
Detectives said they recovered text messages from the ex-girlfriend’s cell phone that demonstrated Foote’s anger over the situation and even his intention to killed Speroni.
An unrelated investigation tied Foote to three armed robberies earlier in the month. Court paperwork indicates that he and a friend held up a Circle K, a Del Taco and a Shell station all within a time span of about an hour early the morning of Saturday, Sept. 3. The pair took a total of about $1,000.
Police said Foote provided them specific details about each robbery and admitted his involvement, saying he was high on Xanax when he committed the crimes.
It’s not clear if Foote was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he allegedly shot Speroni.
