Tucson faith based groups get disaster trainingPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Faith based organizations are learning more about their roles in disaster situations.
Tuesday faith groups met with emergency response agencies for a number of workshops to learn how to better coordinate.
A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security's Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships says working together is key.
"So many assets and strengths that can be provided whether it's helping people to recover through spiritual care or through medical care or to provide clothing or just being a helping hand to their neighbors," said Jannah Scott.
Some of the groups represented include the Red Cross and the Community Emergency Response Team.
