PHOENIX - A booster club treasurer helping raise money for a football team is facing charges of having sex with a minor.

A release from the Maricopa County Attorney's Office said Cherish Arroyo, 35, is facing six felony counts of sex with a minor.

Arroyo helped raise money for the football program at Copper Canyon High School and the minor she is accused of having sex with was a member of that football team.

Arroyo's son is also a member of the team.

The minor involved is now 17 years old, but was 16 at the time of the three to four sexual encounters between the suspect and victim. The encounters apparently happened at Arroyo's house while her husband was at work.

MCSO was contacted earlier this month by the parents of the high school football player after finding inappropriate communications between Arroyo and the victim on Facebook.

Arroyo is from Lichfield Park and was taken into custody Tuesday.

She was released from jail Wednesday morning on a surety bond.

"My deputies are continuing to investigate the woman's activities and have received information from the victim that Arroyo may have abused other team members or school mates," Sheriff Joe Arpaio said. "If there are other victims, we would like them to come forward with information."
