KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) -- A 5-year-old boy whose mother was killed in a car crash involving a school bus is listed in stable condition.

The boy was in the passenger seat of a convertible that collided with a school bus picking up students in Golden Valley Tuesday morning. The mother, 27-year-old Bridget Bruce, was killed in the crash.

The Department of Public Safety says their initial investigation shows the school bus was at a stop sign on Highway 68 when it was struck by Bruce's car.

According to the Golden Valley Fire Department, 24 students were on the bus at the time of the crash. A spokeswoman for Kingman Regional Medical Center tells the Kingman Daily Miner 13 students were treated in the hospital's emergency room but the 5-year-old was the only person admitted overnight.
