Tucson driving: J-6 Overpass open; Woman dies after I-10 accident; Gas prices up locally

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Cochise County motorists on I-10 can finally cut some driving time.

The Mescal and J-6 Ranch Overpass project is finished.

The bridge was demolished in April after two semi-trucks burned up the bridge after an accident.

It opened to drivers earlier this afternoon.

"It's gonna be great to have it open.  I mean anytime I have to go to the bank or anything like that in Benson, from where I'm at living here it's, it's just terrible.  But now that it's open, it's gonna be great.  I just wonder why it took so long," said driver Gill Mazur.

The project took six months to finish.  Much faster than the two years it usually takes for a project like this.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A 71-year-old passenger in a car that crashed into a semi on I-10 Sunday morning died from her injuries.

It happened East of Tucson, a couple miles from the Marsh Station Road at about 9:30 A.M.

The driver lost control when the right rear tire blew out.

Francisca Villa was the only one not wearing her seat belt.  The driver and front seat passenger both lived.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Gas prices in Tucson are going up, which is the opposite of the rest of the country.

Here in town the average price went up .8 cents per gallon to $3.32.  Nationwide the average price fell 4.2 cents to $3.61 a gallon.

A year ago in Tucson prices were 83 cents less.
