Study examines moving Tucson postal processing to PhoenixPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- The new plan could have a huge impact on the postal service in Tucson, as they are looking into closing the Old Pueblo's only mail processing center.
The USPS plans to conduct a study to see if it'll work to fold the Tucson Distribution Center into the Phoenix center.
That would mean even if mailing a letter to someone here in town, it'll have to go to Phoenix first to be sorted before it's delivered.
"I just don't think they've been doing their homework and looking at the long range picture on what happening. And it just gets to the point where they're in so deep they can't do anytyhing," said USPS customer Mark Sellars.
The study will be finished early next year. The postal service would hold a public hearing before a final decision is made.
