First TUSD board meeting with new presidentPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- The TUSD governing board held its first meeting Tuesday since voting in a new president.
Miguel Cuevas was the person chosen to replace Dr. Mark Stegeman as president of the governing board.
Stegeman had been criticized for not maintaining control of the meetings and proposing to make ethnic studies courses electives.
Board member Michael Hicks was against the move to oust Stegeman.
"I was a little disappointed with regards to how that happened but it is what it is and I'll embrace it," said board member Michael Hicks.
Board members will vote on a president again in a couple of months.
