Tucson headlines: Accident traffic snarl; Flammable liquid spill; TEP cleanup

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A two-vehicle crash backed up traffic for several hours on the south side Monday afternoon.

It happened at about 3:30 on South 12th Avenue near West Drexel Road.  Rescue crews had to extricate one person who was trapped.

A total of three people went to the hospital with possible life threatening injuries.


TUCSON, Ariz. -- Just after 4:00 Monday afternoon, firefighters responded to a report of a flammable liquid spill at a house near North Dodge and East Glenn Street.

TFD says the residents were having their bedroom floor restored using gasoline when it ignited.

One of the two workers had to be taken to UMC with second degree burns, but nobody else was hurt.

The damage is estimated at $10,000.


TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tucson Electric Power crews were still busy Monday cleaning up after Saturday's storms.

In the morning there were some road closures just north of the airport as workers replaced at least 50 downed power poles.

A spokesman estimated that a few dozen commercial customers were still without power this morning.
