AHCCCS hearings in Tucson and PhoenixPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- A joint public hearing was held Thursday in Tucson and Phoenix for people to voice their concerns about cuts that AHCCCS is facing.
In Tucson, about 10 people gathered at the Beacon Group which gets funding from AHCCCS and helps those who are developmentally disabled. AHCCCS refused to hold a public hearing to hear the concerns of those who will be affected by the cuts.
"We're hoping by delivering the videos of the testimony of the individuals that are talking today to AHCCCS and to the governor's office, that they'll rethink their decision," said Beacon Group CFO Michelle Kroeger.
Annually, the Beacon Group serves about 800 people who are developmentally disabled.
