Chandler man pleads not guilty in shaking deathPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- A Phoenix man has pleaded not guilty in the shaking death of his 4-month-old daughter.
Police say 25-year-old Amos Carle Andreas was arrested Aug. 22 on suspicion of second-degree murder and child abuse.
Police have been investigating the case since Andreas and the girl's mother brought her to Phoenix Children's Hospital on July 22. The girl died on Aug. 15.
Andreas says the girl was sleeping on his chest when she fell on the floor the night before. But a forensic pediatrician found that the girl's injuries were consistent with being shaken.
Maricopa County prosecutors say Andreas entered his plea in court Thursday. His initial pretrial conference is scheduled for Oct. 25.
