Monsoon roller coasterPosted: Updated:
Our monsoon roller coaster continues. Look for near-record heat today and tomorrow in the Valley, followed by an increasing chance of rain this weekend.
A dry westerly flow has developed in the wake of yesterday's storm system. This drier air will translate to warmer temperatures that will peak near about 110 today and tomorrow. Expect plenty of sunshine and light winds.
Changes begin Friday as a low pressure system moves toward Southern California. This low will begin to draw moisture out of the Gulf of Mexico and pull it north into Arizona Friday through early next week.
Our best chance of rain looks to be Saturday, and strong thunderstorms are also a possibility.
Highs this weekend will be much cooler, topping out near about 100 degrees. Rain chances continue through Monday.
