PEORIA – Rescue crews had to extricate the driver of a cement mixer after the truck rolled over at 107th Avenue and Happy Valley Road in Peoria Wednesday morning.

It happened at about 6:30 a.m.

Details of the wreck were not immediately available, but aerial video from the scene showed the cement mixer on its side. Several firefighters and other emergency personnel were on the scene, trying to determine the best way to get the driver out of the cab.

That extrication procedure took some time. Crews had the driver out shortly after 7 a.m.

The driver’s condition was not immediately available, but a medical helicopter reportedly was placed on standby.

It’s not clear what caused the truck to roll.

A heavy wrecker was called in to deal with the crippled truck.

The rollover caused restrictions on 107th Avenue. 3TV traffic reporter Gina Maravilla advised driver to use Lake Pleasant Parkway to avoid the scene. Happy Valley Road did not appear to be affected.
