Sketch released in attempted abduction of Chandler boyPosted: Updated:
CHANDLER, Ariz. – Police have released a composite sketch of a man they are calling a person of interest after he reportedly approached a 10-year-old boy in Chandler Thursday afternoon.
The boy was walking south on the east side of Hartford Street when a Hispanic man with long hair and a braided goatee pulled up in a tan midsize SUV and asked his name, according to Chandler police Sgt. Joe Favazzo. The boy told him his name then the man asked him where he lived.
Favazzo said the boy recalled seeing a school flier involving a 13-year-old girl who was grabbed two days before and he ran to his grandmother's house to get away.
The man drove past the boy, turned down a side street and drove away.
Favazzo said another boy who was skateboarding in the area confirmed seeing the car pull up and stop by the victim.
Police are considering the man a person of interest. There is no evidence to support this incident is in any way associated with prior similar incidents, according to police.
