Man stabbed at Mesa bus stop; suspect sought

MESA, Ariz. – A man was stabbed at a Mesa bus stop Saturday night and police are asking for the public's help to solve the case.

The victim was waiting to catch a bus at 546 E. Broadway Road at approximately 8:35 p.m. when he noticed a black male across the street.

The suspect approached the victim and asked if he knew what time the bus would arrive. The victim answered the suspect then turned away.

Mesa police Detective Steve Berry said the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife then fled the scene on foot.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as being in his mid-30s, 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 2 inches tall with a medium build and short curly black hair. He was wearing a black shirt and black pants at the time of the stabbing.

The motive is unknown at this time.
