New additions at Chandler Regional Medical CenterPosted: Updated:
July marked the golden anniversary of Chandler Regional Medical Center, celebrating the hospital’s 50 years of healing in the community, and looking forward to the next 50 years of growing and changing to meet the medical needs of its neighbors.
With strong community support and $650,000, Chandler Community Hospital opened its doors with 30 beds and 25 employees. Today the hospital as grown to a regional medical center with 225 beds, 2,000 employees and 800 physicians, and a new tower under construction.
As the hospital has grown along with the community, it also has expanded its service offerings to meet the needs of the changing demographics of its neighbors. Among the newest of these additions are the luxurious birthing suites in the Family Birth Center, which feature state-of-the-art equipment for both moms and babies.
Earlier this year the hospital also opened its new Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, including nine private medical/surgical rooms for patients undergoing heart surgery.
The recent addition of the da Vinci® Si HD™ Surgical System offers less-invasive procedures, translating into quicker recoveries and reduced loss of blood during surgeries. da Vinci’s advanced level of technology takes surgery beyond the limits of the human hand and can be used for many procedures. The hospital currently has 21 da Vinci-trained physicians practicing in gynecology, urology, oncology and general surgery. Patients can find da Vinci-trained surgeons by calling the ResourceLink at 1.877.728.5414.
The final phase of ??Chandler Regional’s current expansion will be the July 2012 completion of its new tower, adding 100 patient beds.
Chandler Regional is part of Catholic Healthcare West and affiliated with Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. In fact, neurosurgeons from the Barrow Neurological Center at St. Joseph's will be performing surgeries at Chandler Regional starting in September, giving the hospital the opportunity to meet the needs of many patients who otherwise would have to travel into Phoenix for their treatment.
During its first 50 years, Chandler Regional has demonstrated its commitment to providing excellent medical care close to home. These new additions reiterate that commitment, and point to a future of continued care for the Southeast Valley community. For more information visit their website
