Tempe detective is laid to restPosted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. - Fellow colleagues, family and friends celebrated the life of Detective Tim Barber. He spent ten years on the Tempe police force and was considered an inspiration to others.
Barber, 42, was diagnosed with prostate cancer two years ago and since then has been an advocate for early prostate cancer testing.
“When Tim was diagnosed he wanted to get the message out for early detection and made that his mission, he never felt sorry for himself, he just decided I'm going to save lives by getting this message out,” said his commanding officer, Sgt. Jon King.
Detective Barber leaves behind a 20-year-old daughter, Brittany and a wife, Autumn, who's pregnant with twins that are due this December.
Anybody wishing to make a donation is asked to do it through Tempe Police Foundation, P.O. Box 27661, Tempe, AZ 85285.
