PHOENIX - A man reportedly admitted killing his girlfriend, whose body was found inside a Phoenix apartment.
Officers responded to the 3100 block of North 32nd Street after receiving reports of unknown trouble Tuesday just before 8 a.m.
When police officers arrived at the apartment, they made contact with a man identified as Jesus Ricardo Murrieta, 20.
While police were talking to Murrieta, he reportedly confessed to killing a woman and said she was inside the apartment. Police found the body of April Maria Mott, 32. They say she had been beaten and stabbed to death.
Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said Mott was Murrieta's girlfriend.
Murrieta allegedly admitted to the crime and was arrested without incident. He is being held at the Maricopa County Jail where he faces first-degree murder.
