PHOENIX - Glendale police have identified human remains found last month.

On Aug. 11, crews excavating a vacant lot just north of Bethany Home  Road and west of 67th Avenue located human bones.

A forensic anthropologist performed an examination and determined the remains were from a male with an age range of 35 to 50 years old. The person was approximately 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed 150 to 200 pounds.

DNA testing identified the remains as those of missing adult Robert Anthony Baynard.

Baynard, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia, was last seen on June 25, 2004, at his home near 81st Avenue and Camelback Road in Phoenix. Police said he left his home either on foot or on a black mountain bike. He was known to ride his bike in the area where the remains were found.

Police do not know how he died.

Anyone with information about his disappearance is asked to call the Glendale Police Department at 623-930-3000.
