Gibson preaches 'composure' to D'backs

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Given his reputation as a player, one might expect Kirk Gibson to be a walking tirade as his Diamondbacks struggle to hold on to first place in the NL West.

Instead, the Arizona manager is talking about composure.

Gibson says he remembers how hard the game was, so he can relate to what his players are going through when they're slumping. The player who used to be so intense says that "a lack of composure doesn't give you a very good chance to succeed."

The Diamondbacks had lost six straight before breaking the skid this week against the Washington Nationals.
