Police investigate death of woman found on side of roadPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Phoenix police are asking for the public's help as they investigate the death of a woman found on the side of a road.
Two Phoenix police officers found the woman lying near the sidewalk on the north side of Van Buren Street near 31st Avenue at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday.
They stopped to see if she needed assistance and found that she had been severely injured, according to Sgt. Tommy Thompson.
The woman, who is approximately 40 to 50 years old, was transported to a local hospital where she died a short time later.
Investigators believe the woman was a transient, but they have not positively identified her yet.
At this time, investigators are not releasing the cause of death.
