26 Arizona soldiers set for Afghanistan deploymentPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- Twenty-six soldiers with the Arizona Army National Guard are set to leave Phoenix on Monday for a deployment in Afghanistan.
The 159th Finance Detachment first will head to Fort Dix in New Jersey for about a month of training before they go to Afghanistan.
It's the unit's second deployment overseas in the last six years.
A send-off ceremony will be held Monday afternoon, with friends, family, fellow soldiers and other well-wishers attending.
More than 300 Arizona Army and Air National Guard soldiers are currently serving on federal active duty in Afghanistan, Iraq and within the continental U.S.
