Young boy witnesses mother's death in apparent murder-suicidePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Two people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in West Phoenix, and the entire incident was witnessed by a little boy.
It happened about 9 p.m. Sunday at an apartment complex near 61st Avenue and Thomas Road.
According to police, it started when a man got into an argument with his girlfriend. He then shot and killed her before turning the gun on himself.
Officers said the woman’s 8-year-old son was home at the time and witnessed the shooting. That little boy ran to his neighbor’s apartment and called 911.
The child reportedly is now in the care of his aunt, who lives in the same building.
Both the man and the woman are believed to have been in their mid-20s. Police have not released their names.
Detectives do not yet know what sparked the argument that apparently led to the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
