What is a cryosauna and why is it good for you?Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- You might have seen something called a cryosauna on a recent episode of "The Dr. Oz Show." It was part of a "does it work" type segment where Dr. Oz decided is certain products or treatments are worth your money. The cryosauna was something he actually liked.
While a traditional sauna is all about heat, a cryosauna is exactly the opposite. Standing inside a special pod-like tube, you're going to get cold. Very cold. During the three-minute system, you'll be blasted with "a breath of chilly, nontoxic nitrogen."
According to the team at Integrative Health in Scottsdale, "the short contact to fridge-like conditions jolts the immune system, which then sends out messages to each organ, instructing them to begin the process of healing."
Cryosauna treatments are becoming popular with athletes who suffer injuries, as well as those who suffer from joint pain.
Tara Hitchcock gave the cryosauna a try and talked to Dr. Alan Christianson of Integrative Health about why cryosauna treatments can be so good for you.
