Tucson fires and homicide updates

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A house fire near Golf Links and Craycroft, has the owner out of his home.

The fire started in the attack and firefighters prevented it from spreading.  No one was hurt.

Tucson fire says to make sure to follow instructions when operating appliances such as air conditioners and swam coolers.

And a woman in her 80s had to be pulled out of an apartment fire on Broadway near Wilmot.

She should survive. 

Firefighters also helped 12 other residents evacuate.

The complex did not have a sprinkler system but an alarm company called 911 to report an activated smoke detector.


TUCSON, Ariz. -- Victim identified in Sunday murder in an apartment on Blacklidge.

He was 43-year-old Michael Smith.

The TPD gang unit is investigating, in an attempt to find the suspect and motive.

And an update to the murder on 14th and Mable.   Police have recovered the victim's 2001 Jaguar.

It was abandoned in a retail parking lot on Oracle Road and Auto Mall Drive.  Francisco Pereida was shot in the road.
