Man allegedly punches teen involved in fight with son

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A man is facing charges after allegedly becoming involved in a physical altercation with a teenage boy.

Kelvin Wayne Jarrel, 49, a resident of Cave Creek, is accused of punching a 15-year-old Scottsdale teen who may have been involved in a fight with his son.

Police responded to the 15000 block of North Thompson Peak Parkway at the Aquatic Center Skate Park on Saturday at about 8:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a fight.

When police arrived on scene, witnesses told officers a man had become involved in the fight and left after allegedly punching the 15-year-old.

The teen suffered facial injuries, which required medical treatment.

Jarrel was contacted by officers at his home the following day. He told police he was in the parking lot of the skate park when he saw a fight break out involving his son. He said he intervened and shoved a male that was fighting his son but had no other contact with the victim.

Jarrel was arrested and faces charges including aggravated assault of a minor and disorderly conduct. He was booked into Scottsdale City Jail.
