GOLD CANYON, Ariz. -- A mother and son are recovering after being hit by a truck Saturday while riding a scooter in Gold Canyon, about 40 miles east of Phoenix.

Deputies said a man made a left turn in front of the scooter. Stacey Turner and her son were dragged about five feet and trapped underneath the truck when emergency crews arrived.

Turner has a fractured pelvis and arm, tendon damage in her foot, a gash covering most of her left leg and road abrasions. Nathan has stitches above his left eye, a chipped tooth, a broken right arm, and road rash on his legs and hips.

Glen Robert Ray, 79, was cited for failure to yield.

As Beverly Kidd reports, the mother and son are in a lot of pain but thankful to be alive.
