Woman allegedly shoots boyfriend in domestic-violence situationPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – A man is in the hospital and his girlfriend is facing charges after a domestic-violence situation ended in gunfire early Monday morning.
It happened shortly after 2:30 a.m. at a West Phoenix apartment complex in the neighborhood of 40th and Peoria avenues.
When Phoenix police responded to the Westcreek Apartments, they found a wounded man sitting on a curb. Although the man had been shot in the lower abdomen, he was conscious and talking.
That man was taken to a local hospital. At last check, he reportedly was in stable condition. His wound, however, did require surgery.
Investigators said the incident started with a dispute between the man and his live-in girlfriend. It’s not clear what sparked that dispute or why the woman pulled a gun.
Police interviewed the girlfriend in an effort to determine if the shooting was accidental or deliberate. A detective on the scene told 3TV’s Gibby Parra that the woman has been taken into custody will likely face charges of aggravated assault.
Detectives have not released the name of either the woman or the man.
The investigation is ongoing.
