PHOENIX -- Now that school is back in session, Phoenix police are warning students at Maryvale High School to be extra careful when they're walking to and from school because thieves are targeting them.

It's happened nearly 20 times since January.

Police say the thieves are males between 16 and 20 years old. Mostly they've stolen jewelry, but they target both girls and guys.

Police believe there are between two and six suspects involved in this string of robberies.

Officers are warning students to walk in pairs or groups because there is safety is numbers. Thieves are more likely to approach somebody who is walking alone than they are a group of people.

If you have any information about the suspects, please call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151.
