Mesa man missing after suicide attempt, fight with brother

MESA, Ariz. – Police need help locating a man who was suicidal and has not been seen since June 22.

Mesa officers say Michael Keith Yunckes, 43, left his brother’s home in the 600 block of West First Place on that day after getting into an argument with him.

The reporting party told police Yunckes had stopped using drugs and alcohol but had recently started again.

That same night Yunckes reportedly cut his wrists and was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Mesa police say Yunckes is schizophrenic and self-medicates. He left all his belongings in the residence including his identification card and wallet.

Yunckes is a white male with blue eyes and red hair. He is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs about 190 pounds. He has tattoos on his right wrist, left arm and across his shoulder area.

According to his family, Yunckes regularly contacts his daughter but has not done so.
