SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Police say a woman who they thought may have been kidnapped from a bank in Scottsdale Tuesday afternoon fabricated the story.

Investigators say a 62-year-old female told her family she was at the Bank of America near the Loop 101 and Raintree Drive earlier Tuesday to make a transaction when she was kidnapped.

She called her family and said she was abducted and possibly in the trunk of her own black BMW.

Around 4:30 p.m. the woman was located, alone in a hotel room in the Village of Oak Creek near Sedona. After being interviewed by police, detective say they believe she fabricated the kidnapping story.

The Yavapai County sheriff's deputies have not been able to determine a motive for the woman making up the story. They have not ruled out a possible medical condition in this case.

Her family traveled to Oak Creek to pick her up.
