1 lb. lean ground turkey meat (with the recent recall of ground turkey meat, purchase the lean ground turkey from your local butcher's counter)
1 small onion, chopped
1 small green bell pepper
3/4 cup ketchup (use the less-sodium ketchup)
2 tsp. balsamic vinegar (you can use regular or apple cider vinegar if you choose)
1 squirt of Dijon mustard
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
Season to taste (garlic and onion powder are a must)
Any time you cook with lean ground turkey meat use lots of olive oil and go a little heavy on the seasonings because it's so lean and fresh. Brown the lean ground turkey meat along with the vegetables. Drain and add the rest of the ingredients, cover and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. The entire meal including prep time should be less than 30 minutes.
The fruit melody should be fruit you and your family enjoy. For the segment, fresh strawberries, oranges and pineapples were used.
