TUCSON, Ariz. -- The founder of Tohono Chul Park has died.
Dick Wilson suffered an infection on a family rafting trip through the Grand Canyon. He was flown out of the canyon to Flagstaff Medical Center, but didn't make it.
He founded Tohono Chul Park with his wife Jean. The park on Tucson's northwest side features gardens and natural beauty and those working there say his mark remains.
"To see beauty of nature you'll be refresh by art the historic buildings the historic hearts of our community those were things that Dick and his late wife Jean left to all of our community," said Christine Conte with Tohono Chul Park.
Wilson was 80-years old.
