TEMPE, Ariz. -- A 40-year-old man died and six other people were injured in a single-vehicle rollover in the northbound lanes of Loop 101 just south of the U.S. 60 exit in Tempe.

It happened shortly before 1 p.m. Friday.

The Tempe Fire Department confirmed that five people were ejected from the SUV and two more had to be extricated. Investigators believe that only the two people who were trapped were wearing seat belts.

Anthony Olivas was killed in the crash. The other victims were transported by ground ambulances to local hospitals.

According to DPS, there was a tire blowout and the driver slammed on the brakes, which caused the vehicle to roll. It's not known how many times the vehicle rolled over before coming to rest right-side up.

Aerial video from the scene showed the mangled SUV in the median between northbound lanes of Loop 101 and the U.S. 60 exit ramp.
