MESA, Ariz. -- Police arrested a woman who reportedly stole alcohol from a Mesa Walmart and planned to resell it to help pay her bills.
According to the Mesa Police Department, Charlyn Dowdell stole three bottles each of Patron Silver tequila and Gray Goose vodka from the store near Signal Butte Road and the U.S. 60 on Thursday. The price of the alcohol exceeded $200.
During questioning, Dowdell said she stole the alcohol so she could resell it to friends and relatives in order to get enough money to pay outstanding bills, according to Detective Steve Berry.
She told police that this wasn't the first time she had done this but refused to give details about past offenses.
Dowdell was charged with organized retail crime and booked into Mesa City Jail.
