Amelia Earhart picture stolen from Scottsdale antique store

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A picture of Amelia Earhart was stolen from a Scottsdale antique store and police have released surveillance photos to help catch the thief.

A woman who appeared to be elderly with white hair and a Caucasian man approximately 30 to 40 years old went into the Antique Trove near Scottsdale and McDowell roads on July 1.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department, the man removed the framed picture from the wall and ran out of the store with it. He then went back inside without the picture. He and the woman left the store a short time later.

The photograph was in an 11-by-14-inch dark brown frame. There was an authentic signature from Earhart on the upper right portion of the frame and a newspaper article about the aviator underneath. The value of the entire framed picture was $4,900.
