PHOENIX (AP) -- After a day off, the Arizona Diamondbacks will return to work Friday at their Chase Field home as they open a weekend series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The series kicks off a 10-game homestand for the Diamondbacks, who are coming off an 8-1 loss in San Francisco on Wednesday. The Giants denied Arizona a chance to move into sole possession of first place in the National League West for the first time since a four-day stretch atop the standings that ended June 25.
Left-hander Joe Saunders will start Friday for his second consecutive start against Los Angeles after beating the Dodgers on July 31. He will try for his third win in a row overall.
Saunders has had quality starts in eight of his last nine outings, going 5-2 with a 2.30 ERA.
