Reps, friends react to Giffords votePosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Southern Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was back in Houston Tuesday night, a day after her emotional return to the House of Representatives for the debt ceiling vote.
Giffords' staffers and friends in Congress admit she still has a long way to go before she can return to work full time, but they say it was inspiring to see her back.
"There's no question that her entry at that moment, totally changed the environment. And in a sense, it helped put things in perspective," said Rep. Dennis Kucinich.
"Her whole delegation in Arizona came over, republicans, democrats, you know. We had a very tough few weeks leading up to this fight and this final compromise, and Gabby melted everybody's heart last night," said Representative Debbie Wasserman.
Giffords continues rehabilitation for the serious brain injury she suffered during the January 8 mass shooting in Tucson.
