Suspect in fatal stabbing on the loosePosted: Updated:
GLENDALE, Ariz. – Police are searching for the person responsible for a deadly stabbing overnight.
It started with a 911 call at about 10:30 p.m. Monday. When police arrived on the scene, a small apartment complex near 53rd Avenue and Myrtle, they discovered a man who had been stabbed several times lying in the back parking lot. They initially thought the man had been hit by a car, but quickly saw that was not the case.
The man was alive when officers found him, but later died at a local hospital. Police have not released any information about the victim. At 6:30 a.m., they were in the process of notifying his next of kin.
One resident of the complex, however, told 3TV that the victim did not live there. She said the man had been visiting her.
The woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, told Tess Rafols that she last saw the man speaking with somebody in the parking lot. The woman said her teenage daughter was the one who first found the victim after he had been stabbed.
Detectives have not confirmed any of that information.
Police spent the night interviewing neighbors and potential witnesses, but they don’t have much in the way of useful facts. They said nobody actually saw what happened.
At this point, investigators do not have a suspect in the man’s death, nor have they determined a motive for the stabbing.
Anybody who might know what happened at that apartment complex Monday night is asked to call the Glendale Police Department at 623-930-3000.
