Richard Chavez dies at 81

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The brother of workers' rights icon Cesar Chavez, has died.

Richard Chavez helped his brother organize agriculture workers in the 1960s. He also designed the logo for the United Farm Worker's Union, which is now an international symbol for working class Chicanos.

"He was always busy, even after he retired from the United Farm Workers Union,  talking to students.  He spoke at Sunnyside High School, Desert View High School, Tucson High, Luz Academy, you name it, U of A, Pima Community College.  He was always giving of himself to talk to the younger generation," said friend of Chavez Ruben Reyes.

Richard Chavez spent time in southern Arizona each year for the annual Cesar Chavez March.  He was 81.
