Calf shot and killed in Flagstaff; deputies looking for suspectPosted: Updated:
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Sheriff's deputies need the public’s help locating those responsible for killing a calf in Flagstaff.
Coconino County sheriff’s deputies and the Arizona Department of Agriculture Livestock are asking for the public’s help identifying those responsible for killing a 6-month-old Black Angus Cross Heifer calf on Randall Ranch.
The calf, valued at about $800, was found Wednesday in the area of Kaibab Estates West near Woodland Ranch. Investigators say it was shot multiple times possibly with a rifle.
Detectives believe the calf was alive for some time before dying. When the calf was found, its mother was still standing near the carcass.
Unlawful killing of livestock is a Class 5 felony. Those responsible may also face animal cruelty charges.
